Albums chart, No.11 on the Independent Albums chart, No.18 on the Rock Album

Goatwhore and Hate Eternal will be hitting the road on 18th February for a several week co-headlining tour. The supporting bands on the tour will be Fallujah and Cerebral Bore. Phoenix Amongst the Ashes was released on 10th May and was hailed as "a relentless, intricate, and near-anthemic crowd-pleaser" by Revolver Magazine. Albert Mudrian of Decibel Magazine declared that Phoenix Amongst the Ashes is "the best death metal record I've heard in FOREVER!" while the folks over at Metal Sucks proclaim that "Phoenix Amongst the Ashes is the moment Erik Rutan's entire career has been leading towards -- it's heavy, it's catchy, and it's innovative. This is the best death metal album of 2011 so far, and other bands are going to have to work pretty hard to top it." Jade Simonetto's performance was complimented by the highly respected DRUM! Magazine: "Phoenix showcases a far more dynamic band. Guitar passages range from weedy to art-y to textured…juxtaposing break-neck verses with near-mid-tempo groove sections…Simonetto takes the gold for endurance." Needless to say, Phoenix Amongst the Ashes could very well be considered the best of the band's long and storied career.
Goatwhore is preparing to announce the details of their new effort. Goatwhore experienced a meteoric rise in 2010. Their song Apocalyptic Havoc appeared on the soundtracks for Splatterhouse and Saints Row: The Third, video game titles released for Xbox 360 and PS3, the video for the same song was used in an episode of Last Call with Carson Daly, they toured as part of Ozzfest 2010, and they also toured with Watain, The Black Dahlia Murder and more. Carving Out the Eyes of God, released at the tail end of 2009, was met with praise from fans and critics alike and hailed as one of the best metal albums of the year.

On 25th October, Rise Above Records will issue a double-disc live Cathedral album, Anniversary, in The UK. Recorded live in London, 2010.
Disc 1 features Forest Of Equilibrium in its entirety, delivered impeccably by the original lineup of Lee Dorrian on vocals, Garry Jennings and Adam Lehan on guitar, Mark Griffiths on bass and Mike Smail on drums.
Disc 2 is a greatest hits set courtesy of the long lasting lineup featuring Leo Smee (bass) and Brian Dixon (drums) alongside Dorrian and Jennings. Vocalist Lee Dorrian comments on the band's first ever live album and the impending final live show: "The release of Anniversary is both exciting and sad for us. Exciting, as it is the first ever official Cathedral live album, recorded at our 20th anniversary show on 3rd December in London last year, where we reunited with our original line-up and performed the entirety of our debut album Forest Of Equilibrium for the first (and last) time ever. Sad, because December the 3rd this year will be the night we perform our last show ever, before calling it a day as a live band. So more than anything, we would like to dedicate Anniversary to everyone who has followed and supported Cathedral over the years. Your support really means and has meant the world to us - thanks and stay heavy!"

American melodic thrash crew Crown The Lost have announced that they have decided to lay the band to rest after six years together. A message from guitarist and founding member David E. Gehlke reads as follows: "With great consideration and thought, I have decided to put Crown The Lost to rest. The straw that ultimately broke the camel's back was Leon’s [Mallah, vocals] decision to devote his full attention to his new band, Collide. Taking into account the dearth of singers of his caliber in our region, it is now time for us to call it a day and focus on new projects. However, I don't think it's a reach to say that the band would have folded a lot sooner if it weren't for Leon's contributions upon his arrival in January of 2010. I deeply regret not being able to find him at an earlier stage in our career, as his professionalism and immense talent would have been the cure for what ailed the band during our formative years. “That being said, we accomplished quite a bit during our six-year run, and I am proud of the three albums we released, specifically our debut [Reverence Dies Within] and our most recent album, Cold Pestilent Hope. I am forever indebted to our current lineup of Leon, Tim Boyle (bass) and Argel Marchelletta (drums), each of whom have become some of my closest friends. Additional thanks to our recently-added lead guitarist Todd Seitz, whose tenure in the band is unfortunately too short to accurately measure. You'll be hearing plenty from him in his most-excellent STYGIA project. “The nostalgic lot we are not, but our ‘farewell show’ is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd at the Smiling Moose in our hometown of Pittsburgh. Our good friends Hollowpoint will be opening the show, and joining us for the entire set will be our long-time (or rather, “returning”) lead guitarist Joe Bonaddio. This is a fitting way to go out, and is a great way to put a cap on our career. Be there or be square!”
